Description

Originally released in September 1986, Talking With The Taxman About Poetry is the third studio album from influential British singer-songwriter Billy Bragg. The record introduced a more fully realised band sound while retaining Bragg’s distinctive combination of political conviction, sharp observation and heartfelt storytelling.

Produced by John Porter and Kenney Jones, the album features guest contributions from Kirsty MacColl and Johnny Marr. Highlights include “Greetings To The New Brunette,” the enduring workers’ anthem “There Is Power In A Union” and “Levi Stubbs’ Tears,” which became a UK Top 30 single. The album was Bragg’s first to reach the UK Top 10 and was later included in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

This long-awaited reissue has been remastered by John Webber at AIR Studios using high-resolution transfers from master tapes held in Billy Bragg’s archive. It is pressed on blue vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve.
