Billy Bragg Workers Playtime

Originally released in September 1988, Workers Playtime is the fourth studio album from acclaimed British singer-songwriter Billy Bragg. The record expanded Bragg’s stripped-back sound with a full backing band and richer arrangements, while retaining his distinctive blend of political observation, personal reflection and sharp melodic songwriting.

Produced by Joe Boyd—known for his work with Nick Drake and Fairport Convention—and Wiggy, the album features Cara Tivey on piano, Danny Thompson on double bass and veteran drummer Micky Waller. It reached No. 18 on the UK Albums Chart and was named among NME’s best albums of 1988.

This long-awaited vinyl reissue has been remastered by John Webber at AIR Studios using high-resolution transfers taken from master tapes held in Billy Bragg’s archive. It is pressed on red vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve.
